After 22 years as a professional actor, and 17+ years as a Member of Actor’s Equity, I returned to school to earn an M.F.A. in Acting from The University of Alabama under the guidance of Seth Panitch. While there, I had the privilege to teach multiple sections of undergrad Intro to Theatre, Intro to Acting and Voice and Diction. I have taught Acting I, Acting II, Directing, Period Styles, Acting for the Camera, and Intro to Theatre at several Universities, and been on the SAC committee to rewrite Curriculum Maps and Theatre Assessments for the Sweetwater School District in Wyoming.
STUDENT OBSERVATIONS - INTRO TO THEATRE
- “LOVE him. So funny and knows how to connect with his students and makes class fun.”
- “Mr. Green is an incredibly interesting person and provides actual examples of things we can discuss in class that are prevalent in the film industry and in theatre to help contextualize what we learn. 12/10 dude.”
- “Mr. Green was amazing and made what we were learning interesting and fun!”
- “William Green was one of the best teachers I have ever had. He always found a way to make class interesting and pertaining to the material we were learning. He really cares about his students and is an all around wonderful person. I am so glad I took his class and recommend it to everyone.”
- “Informative and helps provide a far greater appreciation for the different ways entertainment has developed and the hard work that goes into it all. I will be walking out of this class with a greater appreciation for the theatre, the effort which goes into it, and a more observant mind for art.”
STUDENT OBSERVATIONS - BEGINNING ACTING
- “He is an enthusiastic, constructive professor. I could tell he was always vested in helping us get better, especially those of us who had never acted before.”
- “Great guy. I loved the challenge of this course, especially coming in with no acting experience. I really learned to open up, face my anxieties/fears, and jump in.”
- “William Green was an incredible instructor to have for this course. He kept the environment extremely non-judgmental and a nice space to be in. He was always able to keep the class comfortable, even when people got nervous, and was always willing to stay and offer extra help if needed. This class quickly became one of my favorites.”
STUDENT OBSERVATIONS - VOICE AND DICTION
- “One of the kindest people you will ever meet. He is willing to go above and beyond to help his students succeed, and he makes the class feel like a welcoming environment.”
- “I learned a lot from Mr. Green in terms of the voice and how to speak technically about it.”
- “I loved the lab style in which the course was taught. We spent a good amount of time doing physical exercises and vocal warm-ups, getting students to try different things, and I think many students improved.”
Acting I/Little Shop of Horrors- RSHS
- ”I cannot say enough good about Mr.Green. He took our theater department and transformed it into a place for safety and growth. As an instructor he has made a big influence on my life. His passion for teaching and acting is inspiring. Learning from him has been a privilege.”
- “William Green was the greatest teacher I have ever had. He is kind, wise, and comforting. Before I met Mr. Green I was so shy you could barely hear me and I was going down a deep spiral. My grades were poor and I just didn't care. He saw me, and without knowing, slowly dragged me out of my spiral. Now I'm a straight-A student and about to audition for the lead in two major plays.”
- “Mr. Green showed me that theatre was able to change my heart and that I can use it to change someone else's. He has inspired me to inspire others and has made us feel accepted and cared for. Mr. Green is a caring man, who puts his everything into any project. Count your lucky stars if you are fortunate enough to work with him!”
- “In one semester with Mr. Green, I learned things I would expect to learn at a college level. Working with him in our musical, he treated me with the utmost professionalism. You can see his passion in every aspect of what he does, and he passes it on to his students. I have never seen our theatre department so harmonious and he has inspired me to seek my degree in theatre education this fall.”
